About the role
We're seeking a qualified School Bursar to oversee our school's financial operations and maintain accurate financial records. You'll ensure compliance with educational financial regulations while supporting our mission to provide quality education through sound financial management.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Manage all school financial transactions including fee collection, payments, and cash flow management
  • Prepare monthly and termly financial reports for the School Management Board and regulatory authorities
  • Process staff salaries, allowances, and ensure compliance with tax obligations including PAYE and pension contributions
  • Coordinate school budget preparation and monitor expenditure against approved budgets throughout the academic session
  • Maintain student fee records, handle payment plans, and manage scholarship and bursary disbursements
  • Liaise with external auditors and prepare documentation for annual statutory audits as required by education authorities
Role Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from a recognized university
  • Professional certification from ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants) or ACCA preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in financial management, preferably in educational institutions
  • Strong knowledge of local accounting standards and educational sector financial regulations
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Nice to have:

Previous experience as a bursar or finance officer in private schools

Knowledge of education sector regulations and funding requirements

Experience with computerized school management systems

Understanding of foreign exchange management for schools with international partnerships
