How We Use Canvas LMS.

Canvas is our cloud-based learning management system, a digital hub where coursework, communication, and collaboration come together. We use Canvas to extend learning beyond school hours, giving students 24/7 access to assignments, resources, and feedback. Teachers organize course materials into structured modules, post announcements, and provide personalized feedback through SpeedGrader.

Parents stay informed with real-time visibility into their child's progress, upcoming assignments, and teacher communications. Students can access video lessons, submit work digitally, participate in discussion boards, and track their own academic growth, all from one centralized platform. Since implementing Canvas, we've seen improved parent engagement, more consistent assignment completion, and better communication between teachers and families.

What curriculum does Alexandria follow?

We blend the best of British, Nigerian, and American educational approaches. This gives students a well-rounded education grounded in Nigerian standards while incorporating international best practices. Our curriculum prepares students for both local and global opportunities.

What are your class sizes?

Our classes average around 10 students. This small ratio means teachers can provide personalized attention, adapt lessons to individual learning styles, and build strong relationships with each student. Every child gets the support they need to succeed.

Do you offer additional academic support for struggling students?

Yes. We provide tutoring sessions, remedial classes, and one-on-one support for students who need extra help. Our teachers identify learning gaps early and work closely with families to create support plans that get students back on track.

How do you prepare students for external exams?

Students take the BECE, NECO, and WAEC exams. We integrate exam preparation throughout our curriculum rather than cramming at the end. Mock exams, practice sessions, and targeted review help students build confidence and familiarity with the format and content they'll encounter.

How does Alexandria prepare students for university?

We offer SAT preparation courses for students applying to universities abroad. Our counseling team guides students through the application process, helps them identify schools that match their goals, and provides support with essays and documentation. We prepare students for success wherever they choose to study.

Do you integrate technology into learning?

Technology supports our teaching without replacing personal interaction. We use Canvas LMS for assignments and communication, maintain a student information system for tracking progress, and have a computer lab where students take assessments and attend specialized lectures. We teach students to use technology purposefully.

What languages are taught at Alexandria?

Students learn English, French, and Igbo. English is our primary language of instruction. French classes develop conversational and written proficiency. Igbo instruction connects students to their cultural heritage and local community.
